Represents an immense rock heap with surface of 13.2 hectare on the right bank of the River Iskar, about a kilometer away from the Karlukovo railway station. It seems that it had appeared during an earthquake. Here the river bed is deeply carved among the thick limestone from the Maastrichtian Stage that shapes rock crowns with vertical walls and with more than 60 meters height. The limestone is yellowish, almost white, overfilled with black and dark brown flints. The strata are almost horizontal and they are split by multidirectional cracking which give them even more interesting appearance. These rocks completely justify their names, that is one great heaping of rock boulders, most of which are in shapes of cubes or parallelepiped. Their sizes are different; some of them reach over 15 cubic meters. Their formation is probably due to the erosive effect of the River Iskar over the rocks. Here the river makes a big turn and it moves away from the rocks. They represent an interesting and impressive view. The area has been announced for a rare natural phenomenon by the Committee for Environmental Protection.
